MESSENGERS OF HOPE
Our Messengers of Hope ministry is Parish's bereavement committee. Our committee facilitates a Grief Support Group on the first Tuesday of the month for breakfast following the 9:00 am Mass at St. John's. We meet in the parish hall for a brief social time followed by our support group.
The Committee meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 1:30 pm.
If you or someone you know has lost a loved one, come and be ministered to by others who have and are going through the grieving process too.
For information check out our website by clicking this link or call Deacon Jim Malloy at 422-7661, Eileen Murphy (St. Bernadette's) at 398-8269 or Debby Miller (St. John's) at 359-9583.
| Pastoral Care of
the Dying and their Families The committee for the Pastoral Care of the Dying and their Families invite you to join us! We are a group of parishioners engaged in a ministry of loving care for those who are dying and for their families. Our care takes on various forms. As Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and caring friends we will visit the sick and dying, bringing our Lord and praying with them and their families. Please consider joining us in this ministry of hope and consolation. If you feel called to this ministry, please contact Deacon Jim Malloy at 422-7661. |

| Pastoral Care at
the time of Death The liturgical component of the Messengers of Hope is to assist families with the preparation of funerals. One of the most important moments in the journey from illness through death to new life is the celebration of the life of the deceased in the Eucharist. In order to help make this celebration more meaningful, we meet with families to discuss their needs and wishes concerning the funeral Mass, the readings, music selections and any special needs. We prepare the church for and attend the funeral liturgy, helping in whatever capacity is needed. If you feel called to walk with members of your community who are experiencing the loss of a loved one, please contact Jim Malloy (St. John's) 422-7661 or Eileen Murphy (St. Bernadette's) 398-8269 or 698-1343. Funeral Reception Another important way in which we offer consolation to the family is to provide a reception following the funeral Mass. This is an opportunity for the community to nourish the family both with food and a gentle attentive presence; a time for the family to share a meal and visit with friends and family members as they continue the celebration of their loved one's life. We would like to call upon members of the community to donate side dishes or desserts to serve at this gathering. Please contact Manuela Wright (St. John's) 424-2421 or Tom and Donna Salerno (St. Bernadette's) 335-3854 if you are willing to assist in this area.
