ANGER MANAGEMENT

Anger is a natural, emotional response to someone when we believe that he/she has done something wrong, unfair, unjust or inappropriate to us or to those about whom we care; or it is the emotion we experience when we feel threatened. Anger is usually accompanied by a great deal of energy which when unmanaged often causes hurt, fear, misunderstanding, hard feelings and broken relationships.   The Family Life Bureau at Catholic Charities conducts classes in Anger Management on a regular basis.  Contact person; Mary Jo 302 655-9624.

CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING

Once again Jesus reminds us that the reign of God reverses our earthly expectations: “Some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.” God has a special concern for the poor and vulnerable. A fundamental measure of how a society is faring is the condition of the poor and vulnerable. Those of us who are at the top in the world’s eyes must work to help those who are at the bottom. For more information on Catholic social teaching, or to find out how you can help spread the word, contact Andy Zampini at Catholic Charities 302 655-9624 or at azampini@ccwilm.org.

  VOCATION REFLECTION

Today’s psalm response exhorts us to go out to all the world and tell the Good News.” While that is the vocation of every baptized person, God call some to do it through the priesthood or religious life. For two thousand years, countless women and men have dedicated their lives as sisters, brothers, deacons and priests.  Is God calling you to join them?  Call or write Fr. Joe Cocucci, Diocesan Director of Priestly and Religious Vocations 302 573-3113 and be sure to visit our website at www.CalledByTheLord.com.

BURDEN OF DIABETES IN DELAWARE

In 2002 the Delaware Division of Public Health released The Burden of Diabetes in Delaware.  This report describes the devastating effects of the disease that can include amputation, blindness, kidney failure, depression and pregnancy risk.  Recent studies show that through moderate weight loss and physical activity, you can take control of your health.  These steps can also help to prevent heart disease and high blood pressure.  It is also important to realize that Type 2 diabetes in children is on the rise and can lead to serious health problems in the future.  Fortunately, the same habits that lessen the burden of diabetes in adults have the potential to prevent the disease in our youth.  For more information call the Delaware Helpline at 1-800-464-4357, and ask for the Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.
