 Ascension of the Lord

 WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS

Is God calling you to ministry?
Our need for Special Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick gets greater each week. We currently have 6 ministers visiting 16 people in their homes and in the nursing home in the Greenwood, Harrington and Felton areas. Please prayerfully consider whether or not our Lord is calling you to carry Him to those among us too ill or infirm to join us when we assemble each week at Mass.

SAVE THE DATE

Our parish picnic is scheduled for September 7, all afternoon, at Killen’s Pond, Pavilion #2. More information to come.

THANK YOU

My dear friends at St Bernadette's: Mere words cannot express my love & gratitude for all the love, prayers, food and support you have given me during my illness. I could not have gotten through without you. This is really what Christian love is all about.  Sincerely, Anne J Harris

If you are in need of a hospital bed, free and in good condition, please call Mike Harris at 284-0181for details.

DINING WITH OUR PRIESTS

CARE FOR GOD’S CREATION

Most of us have clean water whenever we want it.  Ciro didn’t have this experience.  He and his neighbors in rural Guatemala had to carry water for miles to meet their village’s needs.  With the help of Catholic Relief Services, they were able to construct a water supply system.  Disease abated as new sanitation made their village a healthier place to live.  God formed Ciro, his neighbors and all of us and infused us with the breath of life.  Your involvement in Operation Rice Bowl will help sustain that life, in ways as simple as making clean water accessible.  CRS strives to be responsible steward of creation while pursuing sustainable development.  Dirty water, deforestation and pollution don’t contribute to a healthier future.

LASAGNA DINNER

St. John’s Walkers for Life relay team is sponsoring a Lasagna Dinner on Saturday, May 17 from 5 to 8 pm, in St. John’s Hall. Please call Maggy McCole at 422-2407, or call the church office. Tickets are $8.00 and will not be sold at the door. Thank you.

SCHEDULED TIME FOR CONFESSION

We will be distributing a survey regarding scheduling a regular time for weekly confessions during mass this weekend. We ask your cooperation in completing the survey.

HOPE & HEALING PRAYER SERVICE

Each Monday from10 am to 11 am there will be a Healing Prayer Service during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament by the Hope and Healing Ministry team.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  After prayer and adoration, the laying on of hands will be available to any who seek healing for themselves or for a loved one.  Please note Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament continues as scheduled.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Begins after the 12:30 PM Spanish Mass each Sunday and ends at the 7 PM Mass on Monday evening Please consider spending an hour in the quiet company of our Lord. A saintly archbishop said: “Our Blessed Lady has left us the legacy of her quiet. If we are to live as children of God, we must be careful not to substitute a great deal of ‘doing’ for a great lack of ‘being.’ In the quiet of the hour of adoration we will learn the secrets of the Lord and gain open entrance to His heart. Gradually we will understand His love… Oh how He loves us!” Call Paul Probis, Holy Name Society president at 422-3882 to commit  to one hour with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

BULLETIN ADVERTISERS

Did you know that at St. Bernadette’s our bulletin is typed and run off on the copier, where then it is folded and then put together with the center page and additional inserts? The level of service we receive from Liturgical Publications is based on the number of advertisers. If we are able to obtain just 15 more advertisements on the back of our bulletin, we will then be able to email our bulletin to Liturgical Publications and they will do all the rest! This will save valuable time and also the expense of paper, toner, wear and tear on the copier, etc. So, if you or someone you know might be interested in placing an advertisement please call 1-800-888-4574.
