 Second Sunday in Lent

 WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS

THANK YOU

Thank you to all my fellow parishioners for all your calls, notes, mass intentions, and expressions of sympathy during this difficult time as we grieve the loss of my father. My family certainly has felt your prayers; your concern is greatly appreciated. – Jeannette Minner

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION GATHERING

Inclement weather and the rush of the holidays has given us limited time to get the word out and that has shown in the response from those who have called to let us know they will be attending our volunteer appreciation gathering. We will be rescheduling it for the springtime. Watch the bulletin for more information! In the meantime, please know that you are appreciated!

RCIA

Do you have questions about the Catholic faith? Are you searching for the contents of Catholic Doctrine? Are you searching for the meaning of life? We invite you to inquire and search for GOD coming to meet man through the RCIA. You are invited attend RCIA on Thursdays, from 7:30 – 9 pm . We will begin at St. John’s and alternate weekly at St. Bernadette’s. Please call Don or Jeannette Minner at 284-4324 for more information.

ST. BERNADETTE'S ANNUAL AUCTION

Due to the snowy weather we have moved the Auction to March 13th, beginning at 6 p.m. , with a preview available at 4 p.m. The good news is now you have a little more time to empty out those closets and pass on those recycled Christmas gifts and check out the stuff that you have been meaning to get rid of in the garage. Please be sure all electrical items are in working order. Sorry, but we cannot accept clothing or furniture. You may drop off items on the stage at St. Bernadette's. We are also in need of donations of cans of sodas and bottled water. If you can assist, please contact Debbie Heinsch.

Once again this year we are expecting some wonderful new and used items due to the generosity of local merchants and restaurants along with frozen food. Three professional auctioneers will conduct the sale, so you can be assured of a fast pace. Don't fuss with dinner because our kitchen will be open serving great food and desserts at reasonable prices. This will be a fun night for the whole family, while at the same time helping to assure the success of this worthy fundraiser at St. Bernadette's Church.

Is God calling you to ministry?
Our need for Special Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick gets greater each week. We currently have 6 ministers visiting 16 people in their homes and in the nursing home in the Greenwood, Harrington and Felton areas. Please prayerfully consider whether or not our Lord is calling you to carry Him to those among us too ill or infirm to join us when we assemble each week at Mass.

BULLETIN REQUEST

Please remember, when emailing items for the bulletin, the correct email address is stbea@verizon.net. Please put your requests in writing, either in person or via email. If you wish your information to be considered for St. John’s bulletin, you must specifically ask us to forward the information for you. Thank you for your consideration to Barbara Sena, our Bulletin Editor.

TRY THIS @ HOME

When you leave Mass with your family on Sunday do you get the feeling that your children or even you are not getting what you should out of it? Before your family kicks into their Sunday schedule of activities try sharing your thoughts on the Mass in the car ride home. You can ask your children what they thought of the homily or what was the most meaningful part for them. It may seem difficult at first to get the conversation going, but if you make it a weekly practice you will find your children (and yourself) being more attentive during Mass

CHRISTIAN FORMATION COMMITTEE

Here is an updated version of a Lenten prayer borrowed from our non-Catholic brethren. “Almighty and everlasting God, who despises nothing that You have created, and does forgive the sins of all those that repent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we who are truly sorry for our sins, and who acknowledge our suffering, may obtain from You, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” The Christian Formation Committee (CFC) invites you to come and pray with us during this Lenten season and in the seasons that follow.
